Tyrone Holmes is the son of Dr. Shirley and rightfully so. He has helped his mother throughout his life and career. Being the executive pastor for Samuels Temple Church in Harlem for over 2 decades has made him an excellent advocate for the voices that don’t get heard. Tyrones extensive experience with the communities at large, while growing up in the housing projects gives him a different perspective on innovative ways and means to continue and development programs that enhance the communities. As a father, producer, editor and organist, Tyrones drive is a testament to the faith. Starting out early as a child actor and then transforming to musician and producer, helping notable legends starting out in their careers such as Faith Evans, LaShun Pace and many others. Tyrone is also the CEO of Bluebox East in New York City. When the church was located on 125th street, Tyrone found a method to deter gang members from destructive activity with and assortment of technology, beats and production. These methods proved highly successful until the untimely gentrification of the church, that was startugually located between park and madison avenues. “These programs are needed says the 50 year old producer, i have seen the positive effect music, film and movies have on the kids”
Over the summer Bluebox put out a release from gospel artist LaShun Pace titled “God Sent me Tyrone” This release immediately shot up and was debuted at #9 to #2 on the billboard charts. Tyrone hopes to house several studios inside the community center, as he knows the effects first hand from his and his mothers effort to open internet cafe studios in Atlanta and the Bronx and Harlem communities.
Music is by far the ultimate uniter. Everyone can identify with the sounds and visuals. Angels of Harlem is Ty’s main focus, as the needs of the communities grows and so does the need for active programs.
